Benjamin Thomas Werner

Ben’s Story

Let me tell you about my Bennie.  He was sixteen when I was born and he was the best brother a girl could ask for.  He had a smile that could light up even the darkest room and a heart like no other. Throughout much of his adult life, he struggled with addiction. The path this took him on saw many highs and many lows. Numerous jail stints, multiple treatment facilities followed by extended amounts of clean time, falling down and getting back up again.  Despite the chokehold that his addiction seemed to have on his life, some things never wavered: his unwavering faith in and love for God, his fierce love for his daughter, family and friends that were also family. He was such a fun loving person with the biggest heart and a zest for life like no other. He never met a stranger and had this ability to make everyone feel seen and loved, like they mattered.  To know Ben was to know love, and we here at the BTW Foundation will carry on his legacy and help lead others out of the darkness that is addiction and into the light that is love and a future.
